This August, Lake Tahoe, California is hosting a month-long celebration of the city’s 150th anniversary. There will be scads of ways to join the festivities. For those wanting to plan a trip, here’s a list of Top Five Spots:
Sunnyside Restaurant & Lodge: Sip cocktails and nibble on fried zucchini on the deck at Sunnyside. The Lodge is also picturesque place to stay!
Truckee River Rafting: Raft down the Truckee River – you can leave right from Tahoe City and they will shuttle you back to your car at the end.
High Sierra Water Skiing: Always fun to rent a boat and waterski, tube or just cruise around the lake.
Hike the Basin: There are literally hundreds of great hikes to do around the basin. I would suggest going into Alpenglow and have them direct you to the best hike for your activity level.
Tour Squaw Valley: This town offers countless summer activities – you can take the tram up to “High Camp” and swim, they have a zip line there as well. At the base are shops and restaurants. Plump Jack or The Resort at Squaw Creek are great places to stay up there.
