Summer vacation in Lake Tahoe, California: Where to play, stay and dine!

SUNNYSIDE RESTAURANT AND LODGE
From the moment you enter Sunnyside, it gives you the feel of a beautiful country lodge!
I make it a point to go to Sunnyside when in Lake Tahoe. It was originally built in 1908 as a summer home to a wealthy Captain. Winston Churchill has stayed there, amongst other celebrities. It’s a one-of-a kind location on the pristine West Shore of Lake Tahoe combined with lakeside dining and warm, inviting guest rooms with full or partial views of the lake. It’s one of the few restaurants with a lodge on Lake Tahoe. If you’re looking for an active lodge with a family oriented environment, this lodge is for you! Sunnyside’s biggest attraction is their large deck for dining while enjoying some of the most spectacular views of the lake.
My photographer and I enjoyed sampling some of the ‘signature’ items on the menu. I recommend all of the below: For starters: French fried zucchini – a tradition since 1965. A huge portion and was so delicious! Main entrée: Northern Halibut – cooked to perfection! One of the best dishes on the menu. Kobe Burger – many of the guests enjoy this huge burger which will fill the bellies of anyone! Smoked Bacon Macaroni and cheese ~~ four cheeses, gemelli pasta, with a parmesan crust. For you macaroni and cheese lovers, this is awesome!! You can actually split this side dish.
Don, the manager, was kind and very accommodating. He greets all the guests and goes from table to table to make sure everything is perfect! Quite a few families come to Sunnyside each year to dine or stay at the lodge. You can visit Sunnyside Restaurant and Lodge at www.sunnysidetahoe.com or call for more information on dining/lodging (530) 583-7200. We give Sunnyside a HUGE thumbs up!!!!
